The test you will need to take depends on what you are applying for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the following application routes, you will need to take a test that assesses your reading, writing, speaking and listening abilities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Health and Care Worker<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High Potential Individual<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Innovator Founder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minister of Religion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scale-up Worker<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Skilled Worker<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Start-up<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For the following application routes, you will need to take a test that assesses your speaking and listening abilities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>citizenship<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>International Sportsperson<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>parent<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>partner<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Representative of an Overseas Business<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>settlement (also known as indefinite leave to remain)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The level of test you will need, known as the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) level, will depend on the route you are applying for. To find out which level you need, see the specific guidance for your immigration route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"approved-test-providers\">Approved test providers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"if-you-are-in-the-uk\">If you are in the UK<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can only take a&nbsp;SELT&nbsp;with one of the following providers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pearson<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trinity College London<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>IELTS\u00a0SELT\u00a0Consortium<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>LanguageCert<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"if-you-are-outside-of-the-uk\">If you are outside of the UK<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can only take a&nbsp;SELT&nbsp;with one of the following providers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pearson<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PSI Services (UK) Ltd \u2013 Skills for English (UKVI)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>IELTS\u00a0SELT\u00a0Consortium<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>LanguageCert<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"find-an-approved-test\">Find an approved test<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For your results to be accepted, your test must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>be on the list of approved English language tests<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have been sat at an approved test location<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have been awarded in the two years before the date of your application<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The list of approved English language tests has been assessed as meeting Home Office requirements under the secure English language testing arrangements. Only those tests and test levels specified are approved. If you intend to use an English language test in your immigration or nationality application, you must take one of the tests on the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You should make sure the test that you book is the one approved for&nbsp;SELT:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>IELTS\u00a0SELT\u00a0Consortium: \u2018IELTS\u00a0for\u00a0UKVI\u2019 or \u2018IELTS\u00a0Life Skills\u2019<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>LanguageCert: \u2018LanguageCert International\u00a0ESOL\u00a0SELT\u2019 or \u2018LanguageCert Academic\u00a0SELT\u2019 or \u2018LanguageCert General\u00a0SELT\u2019<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pearson: \u2018PTE\u00a0Academic\u00a0UKVI\u2019 or \u2018PTE\u00a0Home\u2019<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PSI Services: \u2018Skills for English\u00a0UKVI\u2019<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trinity College London: \u2018Secure English Language Tests for\u00a0UKVI\u2019 \u2013 Integrated Skills in English (ISE) or Graded Examinations in Spoken English (GESE)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It is for you to decide which test to take.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The list of approved tests gives the&nbsp;CEFR&nbsp;level and minimum grade requirements for each level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where 2 or more components (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) of a test are examined and awarded together, you must show that you achieved the required scores in all the relevant components with the same test centre provider as part of the combined test assessment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In certain circumstances, if you failed one component of the test, you may be allowed to sit that component again.\u00a0You will need to check the test provider\u2019s terms and conditions before booking a test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Download  below &#8211;  List of approved secure English language tests taken in the UK<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-74b6aab8-d836-46f6-a6d1-872075daac78\" href=\"https:\/\/ukvitestpreparation.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/List_of_approved_Secure_English_Language_Tests_taken_in_the_UK_5_.ods\">List_of_approved_Secure_English_Language_Tests_taken_in_the_UK_5_<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/ukvitestpreparation.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/List_of_approved_Secure_English_Language_Tests_taken_in_the_UK_5_.ods\" class=\"wp-block-file__button wp-element-button\" download aria-describedby=\"wp-block-file--media-74b6aab8-d836-46f6-a6d1-872075daac78\">Download<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are 2 types of test as different immigration routes require different levels of English language ability.
